和我一同受征聘的朋友万光泰，字柘坡，对于五言、七言古诗很精通。程渔门读了他的诗，佩服得五体投地。而他的近体诗效仿宋朝人的风格，有艰涩隐晦的毛病，陈古渔专门研究近体诗，尊崇明朝七子，因此听说渔门称赞万柘坡的诗，意见与渔门大相抵触。我做了跋语，来解除两家的隔阂，并且摘引了柘坡近体诗中比较出色的让古渔看，使他有所了解。柘坡的《题开元寺》诗中说：“参天古树盘根错节，鸟巢密密地筑在上面，疏疏落落的小屋，少有客人探访。残损的空铃和破败的屋瓦都坠落在尘土里，残断的石碑填放到院墙之中。”《方镜》中又有：“可笑彼此如方凿圆枘不能相容，哪有田字形的面容可以封侯？”《金鳌虫东玉桥》中说：“清晨时分东西两岸笼雾罩，浓翠欲滴，好似姣好的女子排列而立。”陈古渔于是折服。
