in The Snow Mountains，the Kunlun Mountains，Hoh Xil
你时常会犯一个指鹿（有时是羚羊）为牛的
you often made silly mistakes
低级错误？？别人说
of taking a deer or an antelope for a bull.
你错在常识上？？你说
Somebody mocked that your common sense went wrong，
你错在意象上
but you admitted that there was something wrong with your images，
因为你始终认为
as you always believe that
牛吃的是草
the cow eats grass
挤出的是奶？？就象青海的湖水
but gives milk.For example，the others all
别人都说很蓝？？你却说
say that the lake water in Tsinghai is very blue，
很白？？白的象奶
while you say that the water is as white as milk.
因为只有你清楚
because only you are clear that
青海不缺蓝
what Tsinghai is wanting is not
青海更需要
the blue color
奶
but
水
milk.

It Is True That So Many，Many Things Needs to Be Set Aright

鸟？乘坐自己的翅膀
The birds take their own wings to fly；
飞？鱼乘坐自己的木帆船
the fishes take their own junks to move.
行？一群匿藏在
A pack of lions hiding themselves
非洲丛林深处的狮子
among the African deep jungles
蹑手蹑脚的
sneak up on their targets
提着自己的牙齿
step by step
一步步接近锁定的目标
each one being armed to teeth.
剑？狮子寒光闪闪的牙
the lions，raise their swords，
再一次扬起
their gleaming lines of teeth again.
一只泄了顶的鹫
A bald-headed greedy golden eagle
贪婪的躺在自己的翅膀上
lies on its wings，taking a sip of bitter coffee
呷一口苦咖啡？吃一块酱腐肉
and nibbling a piece of caramel carrion.
一群迁徙中的红嘴鸥
A flock of Black-headed Gulls in migration
很绅仕的围着桌子
standing around the table like the gentlemen
用半透明的喙
with their semitransparent beaks
翻大英法典大清吏律
browse the British Colonial Codes and the laws of Qing Dynasty
翻？有关生存权？生命权的
turn over leaves about rules and regulations
条条框框
on rights of life and liberty

Statue 95：Sharpen His Knife among the Snow Mountains to Worship the Buddha
——在龙门石窟竭拜千佛想起隐居山中的刘以林诗兄故赋此诗
——this poem was composed when I pay homage at the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang，which reminds me of my poetry friend Liu Yilin who is living in seclusion in the mountains
天山磨刀
He sharpens his knife among the Snow Mountain
太行吐纳
exercises the yoga of expiration and inspiration in the Five-Element
Mountain
集？三山五岳之气
to gather the anima of all the high mountains
于丹田
at his navel
于仁中
at his philtrum
于足三里以外的
under his feet
千里之行
through a long journey.
闲来时也观天象
When at leisure，one can observe astronomical phenomena，
观候鸟的南来北往
watch the migratory birds always on the move，
品雁阵？摹仿成的飞翔之人
and appreciate the flying formation of wild geese
大步行走于天空
shaping like a flying Chinese character of “man”
行走于
that strides forward across the sky
飘着紫气的彩云之上
and treads above the colorful clouds with floating rosy air.
诗？受孕于山野之中的
Poetry is conceived while one is raising or lowering
抬头或低头之间
their head among the mountains and plains，
受孕于自然
so poetry gets inspirations from the Great Nature.
夜进攻泥土？打击草根
the night attacks the soil and strikes the grassroot.
生命的峡谷之上
above the canyon of life，
人每脱一件衣服
every time as the human takes off a piece of clothes
就被黑暗喜悦地拿走
the night would take it away joyfully.
潜心向佛的日子
In those days when one worships Buddha devotedly，
水若刀游刃红尘
the water seems to be a knife whose blades float freely in the human world
以潜心向佛的谦诚
and chops off a foul wind and a rain of blood
斩断？过山风中
among the mountain breeze
夹带的血雨腥风
with a modesty and sincerity towards the Buddha.
夕阳的余辉里
In the sunset glow
立地成佛的人
the one who becomes a Buddha in an instant
天山磨刀？吟
sharpens his knife among the Snow Mountains
大匠之歌以敬天地
chant the great scholars’songs to salute
鬼神？敬昼伏夜出的
the Heaven and the earth，ghosts and gods
美人与剑客
as well as the beauties and swordsmen hide in the daytime and come out at night
