Statue 81：A pond in the Abyss
——赠诗人朵渔
——To Poet Duo Yu
那里肯定比墨还黑
A place darker than the ink
有水的地方？垂直
peer vertically downward into the water
向下？中间有一截距离
a long distance from the surface of water.
一面镜子漂在水中
a mirror floating in the water
迎接每天路过的太阳
greets the sun passing by each day，
而后就陷入沉寂
and then sinks into a deep silence
陷入一种
A silence
叫做渊的深
called the profound abyss.
渊的潭？一定
the pond in the abyss must be
很清澈很凉很深
very limpid，cool and deep
一定是一汪净水
and it must be a pool of clear water，
静到？可以听到
so quiet that even the sound of
泥土发福或瘦身的声音
the soil growing stout or slim can be heard.
渊中的潭
The pond in the abyss will
用一万面镜子
welcome your arrival with
迎接您的到来
tens of thousands of mirrors，
因为？失足潭口的您
because when you slipped and fell into it
会给沉寂千年的渊
you would bring ten thousand mirrors
带来一万个太阳
for the abyss dreary for thousands of years.

盐河的水？总是那么清
The water in Salt River is always so clear，
芦苇很瘦柳很瘦
The reeds and the willows so thin and slim.
紫红色的海英花？血迹一样
the purple flowers along the banks，like a bloodstain，
毛茸茸的涂满
woolly spread along the bank where
双目触及的地方
The eyes would see one can hear.
蛙鸣入泣
the croaking of frogs resembles sobbing
如朐山东南
or the songs of waves
三月三的潮歌之声
in the early spring.
阴阳水？盐河里的水
The water in the Salt River
清得象潭水
So clear as in a deep pool.
这里是小板桥？静啊
here is the Minor Slab Bridge，so quiet，
静？天高而远
the clear blue sky is so high and far.
天高云淡的晌午
at noon when the sky is high and the clouds are pale，
一排又一排小巧的石头房子
row after row of small and exquisite stone houses
爬满？晶莹耀眼的盐硝
crawled and covered with sparkling and dazzling salts
耐碱耐盐的丝瓜花
and towel gourds，alkaline-resistant and salt-resistant
金黄的开
whose flowers are in full golden bloom.
寂静的小板桥？几块长长的槐木板
the quiet Minor Slab Bridge is a small wooden
搭成的木制小桥？？原来的领滩手
one built with several long locust slabs
是一位诗人？现在的领滩手
the coastguard is a poet，
还是一位诗人
and coastguard nowadays is also a poet.
其实大板桥是没有板的石桥
actually the Major Slab Bridge doesn’t have slabs at all，
石人一样叉开双腿
it stands quietly over the Salt River，just like
静静的站在盐河上
a stone man spreading his legs.
圩下的晒盐人
the local salt makers except for when they sail a boat，
除了行船？就只有借他的肩头
all step on its shoulders to cross the river.
跨过河去石桥是一个大写的人
the Stone Bridge is a big Chinese character of “man”，
是一个能让？圩子底下的盐工
who makes it possible for the salt workers
来到圩子上面的集市
to come up to the open air market
打酒买菜听小戏的人
to fetch wine，buy vegetables and listen to local opera.
大板桥的盐河宽而无鱼水更清
the Salt River at the Major Slab Bridge is wide.
含盐的水？一如口含蜜糖的俊俏女子
there is no fish in the clear salt river.
面对你时只能微笑？没有其它表情
a pretty girl with cherry lips are smiling at you，
因为？她比樱桃更加俊秀的嘴里
as she is keeping a sweetie in her small lips
含着糖？含糖的樱桃小嘴
which is more delicate than the fresh cherry，
与你相视时？就只能向你微笑
when she eyes you，she could not have no other
不可能是其它表情
expressions but a smile.
大板桥的水里含的盐更多
as there is more salt in the water at Major Slab Bridge，
所以水更清？清澈见底
the water is clearer，so clear that you can see the bottom
河底无杂草？亦无鱼
and there are no weeds or fishes at the bottom of the river.
劈开大板桥的盐河和小板桥不一样
the Salt Rivers at the Major Bridge and Minor
大板桥的盐河里每年三月三
Bridge are different，every year in the early spring flood
只过大姥爷（鲸鱼群）
there are only huge fishes in the river of Major Slab Bridge
不过小鱼小虾小螃蟹
without any fingerling，shrimp or little crabs.
大板桥现今已经没有领滩手
nowadays as the Major Slab Bridge has become a
大板桥已经变成了开发区
development zone，there are no more coastguards.
留下的人说？大板桥原来有
those who still stay here said there were much more
更多的领滩手
bank reef leaders in the past，
当然也有更多的诗人
among whom there are certainly more poets.
沧海桑田了？大板桥的诗人
however，time brings great changes to the world，
大多沿着盐河出海水上漂了
most of the poets at the Major Slab Bridge go to the sea
做了不写诗的异乡人
along the Salt River and become aliens who never write poems.

Statue 83：Out of Quietness Village
——-致诗姐翟永明女士
——To My Poet-sister Lady Zhai Yongming
走出静安庄的女子？大眼睛
The maiden out of Quietness Village has a pair of
水灵？出落的如花似玉
big eyes，bright and beautiful as a flower or a jade stone，
似天府造化的媚狐
as charming and attractive as a fairy in paradise.
一嗔一笑？让人想起
when she pretends to be annoyed or smiles，one cannot help
神秘的静安庄
thinking of the mysterious Quietness Village；
举手投足？更让人想起
Each move of her limbs also reminds one
神秘的静安庄
of that mysterious Quietness Village.
一月？走出静安庄的女子
in January，the maiden out of the Quietness Village，
静静的躲在川西南的桉树下读书
hiding quietly under a dense Gum tree，is
读雪莱？读老人与海？读里尔克佛罗伊德
immersed in reading Shelley，The Old Man and the Sea，Rilke and Freud；and
也读庄子？老子和韩非子
she also reads Chuang-Tzu，Lao-Tse，and Han Fei Tzu.
读汩罗江的江水流淌千年
as she reads，she wonders why the Miluo River，flowing
为什么只浸泡一个人的灵魂
for thousands of years，just soaks in only Qu Yuan’s
读大堰河为什么只是我的保姆而不是
soul，and she wonders why the Da Yan River
我的母亲
can only be my babysitter rather than my mother.
二月走出静安庄的女子开始写诗
In February，the maiden from of Quietness Village
写一个女人与一个男人的故事
begins to compose poems based on a story between
写一个女人与一个知清部落的故事
a man and a woman，between a woman and a group of educated youths.
仿佛早已存在？仿佛已经就序
The story seems to have existed long ago and have
走出静安庄的女子这样写道
already been in good order，so she writes like this：so I come
我走来？声音概不由己
up and is settled in a wing room facing the south，
它把我安顿在朝南的厢房
my tongue couldn’t help uttering my thoughts.
走出静安庄的女子在诗化昨天
You see，the maiden out of the Quietness Village is
诗化静安庄的玉米？极小的草垛
Poeticizing yesterday，corn，tiny haystack and
和水面上滑动的鱼竿
drifting fishing rod on the river in the Quietness Village.
直到许多年以后
it is until so many years later that
走出静安庄的女子才知道
the maiden out of the Quietness Village becomes aware
那里？阴阳混合的土地
that the land there blending with Yin and Yang
对所有年月了如指掌
has all the past years at its fingertips.
走出静安庄的女子知道
the maiden out of the Quietness Village knows that
三月是一个等待播种？和
