The male Lark Bunting is readily identifiable（可以确认的）．Female－type plumage（鸟类羽毛，翅膀）is somewhat similar to various sparrows（［鸟］麻雀）and female finches［［动］雀类（如燕雀，金翅雀等）］but has a white wing patch and a large，pale bill．

Colorado’s state flower，the white and lavender（淡紫色的）columbine（Aquilegia caerules）is commonly known as the Rocky Mountain columbine．Its journey to become the Colorado state flower began near the end of the 19th century in 1891when Colorado school children voted the Rocky Mountain columbine their favorite flower，overwhelmingly（压倒性地，不可抵抗地），over the second－place cactus（［植］仙人掌）．Of the 22，316votes cast，14，472went to the Rocky Mountain Columbine．
Nine years later，in 1899，a Colorado women’s club，in Cripple Creek，discovered that the Rocky Mountain columbine had never been officially adopted as the state flower．They went right to work．
Senate Bill 261，declaring the white and lavender columbine the state flower，was approved by the Colorado Legislature on April 4，1899．
Protective of their beautiful Rocky Mountain columbine，in 1925the Twenty－fifth Session of the Colorado General Assembly approved a bill that made it the responsibility of all Coloradans to protect the state flower，established rules about picking and digging the flower and defined penalties for violations of the law．

The state flag was adopted on June 5，1911by an act of the General Assembly．The flag was adopted to be used on all occasions when the state is officially and publicly（公然地）represented，with the privilege of use by all citizens upon such occasions as they deem（认为，相信）fitting and appropriate．Laws pertaining to use of the National flag are also applicable to use of the State flag．
The flag consists of three alternate stripes of equal width and at right angles to the staff，the two outer stripes to be blue of the same color as in the blue field of the national flag and the middle stripe to be white，the proportion of the flag being a width of two－thirds of its length．At a distance from the staff end of the flag of one fifth of the total length of the flag there is a circular red C，of the same color as the red in the national flag of the United States．The diameter（直径）of the letter is two－thirds of the width of the flag．The inner line of the opening of the letter C is three－fourths of the width of its body or bar，and the outer line of the opening is double the length of the inner line thereof．Completely filling the open space inside the letter C is a golden disk，attached to the flag is a cord（绳索，束缚）of gold and silver，intertwined，with tassels，one of gold and one of silver．
The flag was originally designed by Andrew Carlisle Johnson in 1911．Precise colors of red and blue were not designated in the 1911legislation and some controversy（辩论，论战）arose over these colors．On February 28，1929，the General Assembly stipulated（规定，保证）the precise（精确的，准确的）colors of red and blue as the same as the national flag．Controversy also arose over the size of the letter C and on March 31，1964，the General Assembly further modified the 1911legislation by revising（修订，修改）the distance from the staff for the letter C and its diameter．
