One day Bunny saw a big red apple in a tree.It looked good to eat and Bunny was hungry.Mother had told Bunny never to go into the forest alone,but Bunny was not a good listener.
The apple was up high.Bunny jumped,but she only had short,baby bunny legs and couldn't reach it."I will close my eyes and wish the apple to fall,"thought Bunny.Bunny was good at closing her eyes.
A big wind blew the apple off the tree with a loud sound —Crash!
Bunny dashed.She wanted to dash home,but she was not good at finding her way.
Bunny was frightened and wanted to hop home to Bunny Town,but she went the wrong way.She hopped down the road with a sign that read Elsewhere.Bunny was not a good reader.
Bunny saw fat Frog on the road.She thought he looked funny and she laughed.Bunny was good at laughing at others.Frog told Bunny there was nothing to laugh about.
Frog showed Bunny a big rain storm that was coming.Frog wanted to know how such a big wind had come to Elsewhere.Bunny didn't tell Frog she had wished for the wind and it had followed her to Elsewhere.Bunny was good at keeping secrets.
Suddenly there was an even bigger wind than the one that had blown the apple off the tree.
The wind was very strong.It was a Gale!
The gale brought Hail.Big round ice balls fell from the sky!
Bunny dashed away from the hail as fast as her baby bunny legs could hop.She hopped even farther into the forest and got more lost.It seems Bunny was very good at getting lost.
Bunny saw insects —butterflies,bees and flies.They were caught in the wind and could not fly away.They were blowing in circles.Bunny wanted to help free them,but she was not good at catching flying things.
Bunny asked Jay bird for help.She was good at asking for help.Jay had an idea.Let the jaunty wind blow the flower's seeds to the insects.The insects can ride the seeds out of the gale,just like driving a car.
Finally the wind stopped.Now Bunny wanted her family.She was not good at being alone.Kitten said catnip was magic and could help,but Kitten went crazy when she ate it.She rolled around and fell asleep before Bunny could ask how to use catnip to find her family.
Bunny wanted to eat catnip.She asked Lizard where it was.Lizard was so lazy he didn't even lift his head when he told Bunny it was in the garden with a fence around it to keep cats out.No problem thought Bunny.She was good at finding holes in fences.
Bunny found the garden and when she saw the lettuce,she knew it was time for a meal.Bunny was a good eater and she ate three beds of lettuce for lunch.Munch,munch,munch.
Bunny ate some catnip but it is only magic for cats.Bunny thought it tasted very bad and spit it out.Now Bunny just wanted to go home,but how could she find her way?She knew she was good at wishing so…
Bunny found a quiet spot in the garden.She closed her eyes and wished to be with her family.Bunny was good at wishing,but she was even better at sleeping,so she had a short bunny nap in that little nook.
When Bunny woke up,there was Owl.Owl looked like she could read books.Bunny was not a good reader so she asked Owl to read the road signs and tell her which one pointed to Bunny Town.
Owl told Bunny she could find a road home from Porcupine Town.Bunny didn't want to get near the porcupines because their prickly quills were sharp and could hurt her.Bunny thought she was good at hiding,but…
Baby porcupine saw Bunny,and jumped back in fear.His quills stood up on end and looked like pins and needles to Bunny.Bunny did what she was good at —she hopped quickly away.
Bunny saw a family of Quails sitting on a rail.Bunny told Mother quail her story and asked for help.She said Bunny should not have disobeyed her mother by going into the forest.Bunny did not find this helpful because she was really not good at doing what she was told.
Bunny asked squirrel for advice.Squirrel moved her tail and twitched her nose.She said Bunny just needed to remember how much she loved her family.If she followed her heart it would lead her home.Bunny was good at listening to her heart.
Finally Bunny found the road to Bunny Town and she ran down it.She was remembering all the things she loved about her family and her home.Bunny had a good memory.
Bunny was so happy when she saw her town at the end of the road that she danced.Bunny was so good at dancing that she could even dance on her hands —upside down.
When Bunny got to the last hill and looked down the valley to Bunny Town,the sun was going to sleep for the night.Bunny thought it was the most beautiful view she had ever seen.She hurried home to be in time for dinner.Bunny was very good at being on time for meals.
At the end of the road,there were mother,father and brother looking for Bunny and waiting for her.They were very happy to see her and welcomed her home.
Bunny had so many stories to tell her family about her day in Elsewhere.She was very good at telling stories.She hopped down the rabbit hole,happy to be home and ready to eat.
Bunny's father and mother and brother followed Bunny down the rabbit hole and inside their home.They couldn't wait to hear about her day.
